The complex is part of larger cultural center, which houses a library, a gallery space, a theatre, and multifunctional spaces, each expressed as a separate pavillion. All connected along an axis of light, the core of the concept is the cross-pollination and overlap of all these spaces to entice both sportif and cultural visitors to discover new experiences as they visit this community hub.
The light axis is punctuated by a series of skylights that guide users and ensures efficient circulation within the distinctive spaces. Paying homage to the richness of the existing heritage, materials were chosen to amplify the Art Deco signature of the existing buildings. Similar to the robust brick that flanks the exterior of the existing pavilions, the new pavilions are equally defined by brick, while the light axis is comprised primarily of glass with a chevron mullion pattern picked up from the existing buildings.
Finally, the Rosemont Aquatic Complex offers an inclusive and accessible facility. The universal locker rooms allow for optimal accessibility and are also adapted for people with disabilities thanks to adapted lockers, a wheel cleaning hose at the entrance of the locker room and an elevator. Visually connected to the pools and the outdoors, they promote inclusion, safety and openness within the community.
