INTERNATIONAL GARDEN FESTIVAL - REDFORD GARDENS

CABANE IDÉALE

GRAND-MÉTIS, QC

Intervention:
Art Installation

Year:
2002

In North America, the garden shed has become a near-ubiquitous feature of the urban and suburban backyard. The Jardins de Métis / Redford Gardens Cabane Idéale competition challenged participants to rethink the humble shed and its relation to daily life from a creative, interdisciplinary perspective.

KANVA’s winning entry took individual and sensory experience as its starting points, envisioning the shed as a space both practical and fanciful. The resulting ‘hut’ incorporates features that allow users to transform the layout in a number of different ways, playing on the notion of expandable, reconfigurable space.
